   With over 1800 students, INP - Instituto Superior de Novas Profissoes is a private higher education institution established in Lisbon since 1964.
   Nowadays INP, which was a pioneer in Communication, Public Relations, Tourism and Business Administration Education in Portugal, has three different departments: 1 - Communication; 2 - Management; 3 - Tourism.
   Since we are involved in developing several international programmes which are the result of our gradual internationalisation policy; therefore, we would like to enlarge the scope of our activities with other recognised European Universities, which is the case of your institution.
   Over the years tourism has been one of the areas with the highest growth rate in Portugal. To respond to new and more demanding tourist flows, it is vital to continue training competent staff to deal with the tourist trade's various aspects.
   As a pioneer in tourism education and training, the Instituto Superior de Novas Profissoes (INP) offers the first four-year graduation course in Portugal. Its plan is based on the long experience of INP, whose merit was officially recognised by the Portuguese Secretary of State for Tourism, who awarded this Institute the Gold Tourism Medal. The course offers two branches in the final year: one on Tourism Management and the other on Cultural Heritage and Tourist Information. These branches aim to providing students with two different options and creating more opportunities at both domestic and international levels. The practical knowledge students require to exert their activity in Travel Agencies, Tour Operators, Hotels, national and municipal public services, Airlines or as Tourist Guides has not only been maintained from the former course but also reinforced.
   The students who have successfully completed this course are awarded a graduate degree.
   In INP all subjects are taught in Portuguese, with the obvious exception of foreign languages. Yet, throughout its 40 years of existence, INP has welcomed many foreign students with a reasonable command of Portuguese (the Erasmus students have available a Portuguese Intensive Course). On the other hand, students from Portuguese-speaking countries like Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, are common in any of our courses.
